Things to help Low back pain
Back pain is very common. Most of us will suffer from it at some point in our lives, and as we are living longer, the number of people experiencing back pain is likely to increase (Hoy and colleagues, 2012). However, low back pain tends to subside within two to six weeks and by twelve weeks pain levels are low in most cases. Imaging such as an X-ray or MRI scan is rarely necessary. It is important to stay positive and try to keep moving.
As we get older, it is common to decrease the amount of exercise we do and start to slow down. Aches and pains, as well as injuries, occur more frequently too, making us want to exercise less often. However, the saying ‘use it or lose it’ is so true. It is more important than ever to keep moving, as the stronger and fitter we are, the better equipped the body is to deal with everyday life. Strength training is very important as we age, as our muscle strength tends to decrease with age.
Here’s a video explaining a bit more about the discs and what you can do to help. The main thing is not to worry. The body is very good at repairing itself so although you maybe in a lot of pain, your symptoms are very likely to get better.
How to know if your pain is going in the right direction
If you have been experiencing pain in the back and down the leg, then as the back starts to heal, the pain in the leg should reduce and it should become more centralised in the low back.

During the lock down we are offering online appointments where we can go through different orthopaedic tests to find out what is wrong and give lots of advice with specific exercises to do to help.
Cassie is also running an Online Rehab class every Wednesday evening via Zoom at 7pm. Just email louise@attend2health.co.uk to take part.
A massager can really help ease tight muscles in the back. We sell them at the clinic for £39.99 RRP £59.99. Just call 01763 878087 to order one and you can either pick it up from the clinic or I can drop it to a house in Buntingford.

I have also written a book on low back pain. This can be ordered through Amazon or again I can deliver copies locally.

I have been attending Pilates Reformer classes with Sarah since January and have been extremely impressed with her constant … More support enabling me to work most effectively on the equipment.
I thoroughly enjoy the class and have seen an improvement in my strength and tone of my body.
I love the aching muscles the next day! 😂 -

I had a very positive experience with Homam Limam. From the first appointment, he was professional, friendly, and took the … More time to understand the issue properly before starting treatment. I noticed a clear improvement almost immediately, and his approach made me feel confident that I was in good hands.
Highly knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely focused on helping his patients — I would happily recommend Homam to anyone looking for an effective and reassuring chiropractic service. -

First class all round
From the receptionists, to the treatment team and to the owner
The place is incredibly professional, … More welcoming and still has a family feel about the place
I've had plenty of treatments from Oli Towsend and always come away invigorated - excellent
My back and shoulders regularly need some tlc and the team have been superb in getting me back in shape
One thing that also stands out is the way the team talk so positively about the owner of the practice (never met them). They talk so highly of the owners personal standards in looking after the staff, commitment to local charities and support for young up and coming talent and in coaching / mentoring others
So important local companies support our local people.
Great work - and can highly recommend
